Owning the rights to the characters, music (potentially), etc means they could call this game 'Final Fantasy Redux' if they wanted to, place Cloud and the gang back into the same world with the same story and there's nothing Sony or anyone else could do about it. In this case, SE can continue to create new FF7 related games (including a complete remake which would use none of the 13 year old assets from the original), since they are both publishers AND the intellectual property rights-holders for FF7. These games continued to be made by whowever bought the rights to make them, from the owners of the intellectual property. However, since then another game with the Goldeneye name has been released, along with multiple Bond games using the intellectual property from the series. ![]() MS owns Rare, and yet can't release Goldeneye because they don't own the publishing rights to that particular game. An example of why I'm right is even in your own reply. ![]() Sony published the game, but this in no way means that SE couldn't create a new game based on FF7 and publish it itself for whatever console/handheld/etc that they so choose. While Square Enix has not currently mentioned a PC version of the Final Fantasy VII Remake, it's possible to see it on Steam at a later date. This little piece of 'fact' isn't even true. Final Fantasy VII Remake launched on PS4 on April 10 and we know for a fact that it is a timed exclusive on Sony's console for a year. Glassjoe2k8 4205d ago (Edited 4205d ago )
